Ann graduated in Dundee with honours from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 1990. She specialised in Graphic Design and worked in this field for many years. These days she concentrates on doing what she loves most, drawing! She draws in every spare minute she can find on a daily basis, finding inspiration for her drawings from the natural world combined with her imagination to make all these places, animals and insects somehow magical and enchanted.
Butterflies wings appear on frogs and fish, and create an enchanted, magical quality to her work.
Working mainly in pen and ink, she has a unique drawing style which she refers to simply as doodling. She has developed this unique style since early childhood, and even today her drawings begin as a doodle which is transformed into a unique creation. These days the doodles are still developing as much as they did when she was a child and her work is constantly changing to include new ideas. The use of colour in her recent work is limited to the small areas of the drawings where magic has occured, and all the drawings hold a story with a happy ending.
Ann is also a qualified and experienced teaching assistant. By focussing on the simple doodle she is able to release the imagination of her students who end up being delighted with their own creations.
Ann is currently exhibiting throughout Fife and at the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh. Her work can also be found in Norway, Canada, and the USA.
